There is a strong correlation between a person's health and the environment into which he or she is born and grows up.

Professionals call a person's birthplace, family environment, community, and community environment, as well as their school and work environments, social determinants of health. 

One's access to a healthy diet, an excellent education, a safe place to live and work, quality medical treatment, and other positive outcomes is affected by these variables.

To ensure that all people have equal access to healthcare, the World Health Organization and national governments are constantly working to enhance the social determinants of health.
