"When selecting huge portion sizes, you may want to consider whether this is absolutely necessary. If the response is affirmative, so be it. Yet, if the answer is no, you can choose lower-calorie alternatives and still enjoy the same delicious flavours and experiences."
As pleasant as it is to lose weight and get in shape, it is equally tough to ignore tempting fast food items. What if, however, we told you that you do not have to fully abstain from your favourite junk foods in order to get healthier? Graeme Tomlinson, a nutritionist and fitness coach, recently posted on Instagram that "eating food from McDonald's is not a nutritional disaster," "eating food from Burger King will not make you fat," "indulging in food from KFC should not result in self-loathing and failure," and "eating a subway on the go does not require subsequent punishment."
According to the expert, consuming fast food is a win if you love it. What then? Tomlinson emphasised that our knowledge of the food we consume might serve to educate us about its nutritional value. "Although fast food is commonly regarded to be unsupportive (regardless of what is ordered)," he continued, "as illustrated by my graphs, menu items vary greatly in calories and macros."
The nutritionist goes on to explain that while fast food items are quick and extremely pleasant, the majority of them are typically rich in calories, which raises the likelihood of accumulating body fat if they are consumed frequently in large quantities. According to him, however, obesity is not caused by calorie-dense fast food. "This is due to our overall nutrition management."
According to him, our body composition will be determined by our nutrition, including portion size, and energy expenditure. "It makes no difference whether we consume McDonald's or not. If you enjoy fast food, you must consume it," Tomlinson added, explaining how simple substitutions can reduce the number of calories in your order.
He proposed substituting a quarter pounder with cheese, medium fries, and a large coke zero for the double quarter pounder with cheese, large fries, and large Coca-Cola (1,395 calories) (845 cal).
He proposed substituting bacon double cheeseburger and large coke zero (1 321 calories) for bacon king and large coca cola (1 321 calories) (443 cal).
He recommended substituting the double sausage, egg McMuffin, and large latte (748 calories) with a single sausage, egg McMuffin, and normal cappuccino (520 cal).
